Have you had a chance to speak with a great mortgage lender about your upcoming move?
Lenders can advise and help keep your credit and financials on track prior to a big purchase.
Call around to banks, credit unions, and mortgage lenders to find out who has the best terms that will work for you. Give them a quick run-down of your finances, and your approximate credit score. Make sure that they know you are just checking rates, and don’t offer them any information that will let them pull your credit until you are ready and have made a final decision on which lender you would like to use.
I prefer to work with lenders who provide their personal cell phone numbers so that if I have a last minute question before writing an offer, I know that I can reach them on the weekend.
There are also lenders who will work with you over email so that you don’t have to take time off work to meet with them.
Pre-qualifying can be the trickiest part of the home buying process. If you have credit of 620+, steady income, and no recent bankruptcies/foreclosures, you likely qualify, but it may take a few weeks to get the final approval for your home purchase. DON’T WAIT until you find your dream house to apply for a mortgage. Many homes are selling in 3 days or less, and the pre-qualification process can take 2 weeks. Most Realtors won’t take you to see a home unless you are already pre-qualified for just that reason.
Looking for a great lender? Here are some of my favorites to work with. All have fantastic financing options, are good at their jobs, work in both WA and ID, and are great communicators who will keep you in the loop. Please just call one so that you don’t get multiple pulls on your credit.
